Graduation Results

The DOE shares graduation results to help families and educators understand the performance of New York City schools in recent years. Keep in mind that graduation results are just one metric of school performance. You can find more information on the tools, resources, and reports the DOE creates to measure school quality on our School Quality Overview.

Notes on graduation results:

  • Beginning in 2005, the DOE began using the New York State method of calculating graduation rates. The first graduation cohort affected was the Cohort of 2001, which graduated in 2005.
  • The cohort consists of all students who first entered grade 9 in a given school year. For example, the Cohort of 2001 entered grade 9 in the 2001-2002 school year.
  • Graduates are defined as those students earning either a Local or Regents diploma.
  • When available, graduation rates as of both June and August (including summer graduates) are reported.

Graduation Results for Cohorts 2001 to 2018

(Classes of 2005 to 2022)

Graduation results can be found below and are available at the city, borough, district, and school levels. Additionally, graduation results are split into separate files, covering Cohorts 2001-2011 (Classes of 2005-2015) and Cohorts 2012-2018 (Classes of 2016-2022), respectively. Each Excel file contains results for all students tested, as well as results by student characteristics including disability status, English Language Learner (ELL) status, race/ethnicity, and gender.
