Contracts for Excellence 2016-2017 Annual Hearings

The Governor's 2016-17 Budget states "a school district that submitted a contract for excellence for the two thousand fifteen--two thousand sixteen school year, unless all schools in the district are identified as in good standing, shall submit a contract for excellence for the two thousand sixteen--two thousand seventeen school year which shall, notwithstanding the requirements of subparagraph (vi) of paragraph a of subdivision two of this section, provide for the expenditure of an amount which shall be not less than the amount approved by the commissioner in the contract for excellence for the two thousand fifteen--two thousand sixteen school year."

Borough Hearing Schedule

The Department of Education will be hosting the Contracts hearings for the five boroughs, an arrangement that will further encourage parental and community involvement. The DOE will use the feedback in refining its final Contracts for Excellence plan.

A hearing will be hosted in each borough on the following dates:

  • Queens: July 20, 2016 – Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School (35-12 35 th Avenue, Queens, NY 11106)
  • Manhattan:July 21, 2016 – P.S. M169 Robert F. Kennedy (110 East 88 Street, New York, NY 10128)
  • Staten Island: July 25, 2016 – The Michael J. Petrides School (715 Ocean Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10301)
  • Brooklyn: August 1, 2016 – Wingate Campus: High School for Public Service: Heroes of Tomorrow (600 Kington Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11203)
  • Bronx: August 2, 2016 – Mott Haven Campus (730 Concourse Village West, Bronx, NY 10451)

All hearings are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. Comments can be submitted at each borough hearing and/or by sending an email to ContractsForExcellence@schools.nyc.gov . The deadline for comment is August 20th , 2016.
