Ezra Jack Keats

Annual Bookmaking Program and Competition

The annual Ezra Jack Keats Bookmaking Competition is a collaboration between the Office of Arts and Special Projects, NYCDOE and the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation. Named for the creator of over 20 children’s books, including the classic Caldecott-winning The Snowy Day, the competition has resulted in the creation of thousands of student-made picture books.

Open to teachers of students grades 3 through 12, the competition has evolved into a program that encourages author and illustrator studies, and gives students the opportunity to experience the problem solving and imaginative solutions involved in creating a picture book.

To register for a special bookmaking workshop on September 27th, 2019 at the High School of Art and Design, click here:  https://www.cvent.com/d/2yqrhp

Please note that while we encourage you to register for the workshop, it is not a prerequisite for entering the competition.
