Sprung Wood Dance Floors / Installation and composite dance floor surfaces

Floors should always be sprung to prevent injury. Both permanently installed sprung floors and removable sprung wood floors are available. Inquire whether the vendor will install for you. Floor surface should be consistent with the kind of dancing your children will be doing, in terms of traction and durability. A variety of composite removable floor surfaces is also available. These generally come in rolls 5-feet wide at the length you desire. To install, lay out the rolls side by side and tape the seams and the edges with gaffer's tape or with a special clear tape. Consider whether the children will be dancing in bare feet (less traction needed), in ballet slippers (more traction needed), or in rubber-soled shoes such as sneakers or jazz shoes (medium traction needed). If many forms of dance will be performed on it, use a composite floor surface that is designed for multiuse dancing. If tap dance is one of the forms, the surface has to be durable enough and hard enough to withstand the wear and tear. Ask your vendor for help with all this. They are the experts and will expect these questions.
